Springfield Missouri's very own confection company, Askinosie Chocolate, is making waves across the nation.

Leading business magazine Forbes has named Springfield's Askinosie Chocolate one of America's best small companies. Although the company was chosen in part because of its financial health and steady profit margins for the past decade, it was foremost recognized for its commitment to nonfinancial priorities, including its contributions to community and society.
When owner Shawn Askinosie opened Askinosie Chocolate in 2005, he put sustainability at the forefront of his business operations. He sources the cacao beans used to make his chocolate from farmers in Ecuador, Tanzania, Honduras and the Philippines, who then receive up to 10 percent of the company's profits.
